Middle School

Middle school is a time of transition from youth to young adulthood: socially, academically, mentally, physically and above all spiritually. At Hill Country Christian School, we strive to help our students grow and mature holistically across each of these foundational pillars. With the introduction of team sports, lecture classes, field trips, National Junior Honor Society, Student Council, and class devotions where the students share an active voice, we encourage growth in mind, body, and spirit.

6th Grade bridges the gap between the Elementary years and Middle School. Academically, the 6th grade class continues working through Accelerated Christian Education (ACE) PACEs. PACEs offer students freedom to work at their own guided rate across the 5 core subjects of Math, English, Word Building, Science and Social Studies. The schedule in this room allows for more project time for the class to study Christmas Around the World, do book studies, and work on Science or Social Studies projects.

Hill Country Christian School recognizes that middle school is a time of growth in many areas, but also at different rates with different needs. A long-standing and well-loved tradition for middle school is separating the 7th & 8th grades into a Young Ladies Class and a Young Men's Class. Students, parents and teachers agree that this unique classroom setting allows a valuable level of comfort and comradery at a transitional time. The addition of Creative Writing, Math, Earth Science, and Pre-Algebra lecture classes keep students engaged and on the move as they begin the transition out of Accelerated Christian Education (ACE) PACEs.

Students are invited to participate in team sports or help the team practice during daily combined middle school PE classes split by gender. Girls may choose to be on the Volleyball, Basketball, Softball, or Track & Field Team. Boys are able to participate in 6 Man Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Track & Field. Membership in the National Junior Honor Society and the Student Council comes through teacher recommendation based upon academic strength, integrity, diligence, and an interest in serving their fellow students.
