Elementary

A typical day for first through fifth grade students at HCCS combines individualized learning, teacher support, and opportunities to grow academically, spiritually, and socially. Our core curriculum, Accelerated Christian Education (ACE), uses mastery-based, individualized instruction through PACEs (Packets of Accelerated Christian Education). Students work toward daily goals in Math, English, Word Building, Science, and Social Studies, progressing at a pace that supports their individual learning needs. In first grade, students also use the Abeka curriculum for math and receive a strong foundation in phonics, helping them develop essential reading, spelling, and language skills.

Throughout the day, teachers guide students, answer questions, monitor progress, and provide one-on-one instruction when additional support is needed. Our small student-to-teacher ratio in our classrooms allows students to receive personalized attention while developing responsibility and independence. Upper elementary students also participate in hands-on science projects that complement the topics they are studying. In Social Studies, students explore American history while also learning about missionaries, the countries and cultures in which they served, and the impact of sharing the Gospel around the world.

Students may also complete elective PACEs in Literature and Creative Writing, Bible Reading, and Animal Science. Biblical principles and character development are woven throughout the school day. All elementary students participate in daily physical education, while first through fifth grade students enjoy music class twice each week. Together, individualized academics, hands-on activities, enrichment classes, and Christ-centered instruction create a well-rounded learning experience designed to help every child grow and succeed.
